Sort code checker
More people than ever before are using automated payments from making an internet payment via online banking to paying a regular bill with a Direct Debit. Which is why it’s important automated payments can be made smoothly and efficiently.
To enable that, Pay.UK has created a sort code checker – a one-stop-shop for the payments industry. Using data that is updated weekly, this online resource checks if the sort code a payment is being sent to is able to receive Faster Payments, Bacs Direct Credits and CHAPS payments. It confirms whether it’s possible to set up a Direct Debit Instruction on the account* or clear a cheque or pay a paper credit to it through the cheque and credit clearing facility.
Why up-to-date sort code data is important
Out of date information can mean payments are delayed or aren’t processed at all, which could result in extra costs for businesses, individuals and payment service providers. In line with the Pay.UK commitment to ensuring payment efficiency, the sort code checker has been developed for both personal and corporate account holders.
