New Chair announced for the Standards Advisory Panel
Pay.UK and the Bank of England are today pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Braithwaite, Global Head of Transaction Banking at Barclays, as the new Chair of the Standards Advisory Panel.
Karen has been a member of the Standards Advisory Panel since its inception in 2019 and replaces Jana Mackintosh, the previous Chair, who has moved roles. Karen will take on the role of Chair of the Standards Advisory Panel with effect from the next meeting (16 September 2020). The Bank of England and Pay.UK would like to thank Jana for her leadership of the Standards Advisory Panel over the previous two years.
The Bank of England and Pay.UK jointly set up the Standards Advisory Panel in 2018 to focus on the strategic transformation enabled by the coordinated move to ISO 20022 for interbank payments in the UK. A key role of the Standards Advisory Panel is to create focus and challenge on the strategic opportunities enabled by this transformation to help ensure its successful implementation.
The Standards Advisory Panel is jointly run by the Bank of England and Pay.UK, and comprises a senior group of stakeholders representing the payments industry, including payment service providers, technology firms and end users. The current membership was selected from shortlisted responses to a call for interest that Pay.UK and the Bank of England ran in 2018. Membership of the Standards Advisory Panel is kept under review and the Bank of England and Pay.UK may open a further call for interest in due course.
